$995 to replace two outside outlets (one GFI) and weatherproof boxes - probably $60 in parts and it took less than an hour. They told me the cost before they did the work, and I approved it because I needed to have it done. I don't know if they're taking advantage of the pandemic or what the reason was for charging a ridiculous amount. I called to try to understand why it was so much and hoped there was a mistake somewhere (the invoice shows a single line item for $995).
They only responded with boilerplate talking points and couldn't explain why it was over $900 more than the cost of the parts (again - it was less than an hour or work). The "price breakdown" they sent separately didn't actually provide any cost breakdown and was completely useless. I've used Vander Hyde many times over the years and they are always friendly and professional. However, I'll be moving on to someone else.

Our water heater had a slow drip. We called Vanderhyde to come out and look at it. They do not do quotes over the phone and it's an automatic service fee to come out. To replace the water heater ranged from $2500-$6500 for very little value between each package. I went for the middle of the road bronze package. After about a week my water smelled like rotten eggs. It is an easy fix for any homeowner but they made my hot water heater unaccessible to add any disinfectants.
It required them to come out. I feel this was done intentionally so if needed they would get additional service calls. They told me exactly what I needed done to remove the smell but would not give me a quote over the phone. They don't offer anyway to talk to the technician and offered me no solutions to make it right. Not a good value, poor customer service and install is set up for only them or a professional to do any kind of maintenance.
