The company is located in the heart of Richmond and is a family run and operated business, founded in 1982 by Allen Brock. We are a member in good-standing of both the Better Business Bureau and the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce. Our plumbers and heating and air conditioning technicians are trained and highly skilled in the areas of installation and repair, and can work on all major brands of equipment.

I scheduled an appointment online after my heat went out. The following morning, I got a call offering for someone to come out that day. I called in a semi-panic, as I thought our Nest thermostats (which we detested) had failed, asking for someone to replace the thermostats. Adam was at our house within an hour, new Honeywell programmable thermostats on the truck. He switched them out, patiently showed me how to program them, and waited as I did so. Such a nice patient young man. I will ask for Adam when I need service again. We have a maintenance program with Gilman and have been 100% please with every visit. Thanks to that plan agreement we saved 15% on this call!

Get a written estimate! We had several small issues.drips, etc. Out of 4 things we called about, only one faucet was replaced (I supplied faucet). One needed part and I got a quote which was fine. Two issues were not fixed, one being a dripping kitchen faucet which should have been straightforward. All at a cost of $550+ for one and a half hours total labor! Seems steep to me! They were polite.

When we noticed our water bill had suddenly doubled, Gilman Heating, Cooling & Plumbing diagnosed the problem and fixed our main water line within a week. They were knowledge about the task at hand and got the job done unobtrusive. They were also courteous, wearing masks in the house and little booties on their feet to keep dirt off the carpet. Gilman's estimate was also considerably lower than other area companies.

We called Gilman due to the pilot light on our water heater going out, and we were unable to get it lit. (We did call 2 other companies first that we'd dealt with before - 1 said they could come today or Friday - tomorrow is Thanksgiving - and the other still hasn't called back.). Our neighbor recently had service from Gilman and was very pleased. Chris (and his trainee) arrived on time, were very friendly, and quickly figured out what the problem was and got the pilot lit. Thanksgiving will no longer be a disaster this year - our out-of-town guests will appreciate hot showers!
